Lord Mayor Barbara Boyce opens the Poppy Room

The Lord Mayor Barbara Boyce opened our new counselling and therapy room on 12th December 2017. This space has been converted from a former bathroom and provides much needed extra capacity so that Kyra can offer therapies to more members.

The room has been named after the beautiful daughter of Alex who was one of the first counselling clients at Kyra. Alex has been a keen supporter of our work.

The Lord Mayor said ‘This is probably the smallest event I have done so far this year – in this former ‘smallest room’ – but probably one of the biggest in impact on people’s lives.

Our thanks go to all those who have helped in making this happen, including the volunteers who gave up a weekend to dismantle and clear away the old bathroom suite and Joy who chose the colours and organised the furniture. Our thanks also to Southwell Trust and the Scurrah Wainwright Charity for their financial support.
