Title:                                   Tutor to lead ‘preparation for work’ course

Hours:                                3 hours per week for 18 weeks

Salary:                               £18 per hour

Job Summary

Support and encourage participants recruited to the ESF Community Grant programme to gain confidence and understanding of the skill required for preparing for interviews and support them throughout the project. Have regular contact with the members to monitor progress.  Ensure paperwork is completed and compliant to the funding agencies requirements.

  • be non-judgmental and listen to concerns and ideas
  • challenge any pre-conceptions that may be holding members back
  • support them to find solutions and new approaches
  • be empathic to the needs of the members
  • look at situations that are challenging to them and support them to think about how they can manage these
  • have regular contact with facilitators running groups which members may be attending
  • the content of the course should include:
  • The practical details of interviews

Dealing with nerves

  • Making your research count
  • Anticipating key questions
  • Creating a positive first impression
  • What to wear
  • Using your voice
  • Getting to grips with interview questions
  • Brilliant questions to ask the interviewer
  • Successful telephone and video interviews
  • Giving short presentations
  • Tests and exercises
  • Leaving a positive impression

Skills required:

  • strong organisational skills;
  • presentation skills and attention to detail;
  • the ability to plan your own work, work on your own initiative and meet deadlines;
  • the ability to manage pressure and conflicting demands and prioritise tasks and workload;
