A group of staff from Benenden Health has won an award for their volunteering work at Kyra. In March this year, just after International Women’s Week, the group helped to refurbish the courtyard at Kyra. In a busy day’s work, the team weeded, planted, moved planters around, built new furniture and created a new herb bed. Rosemary Cook, CEO of Kyra, said: “We were so grateful to these amazing volunteers, they have completely transformed our courtyard, and our members love using it. It’s now such as pretty, green and calm space. The herbs are thriving and already being used in our cookery sessions and by our young women’s group.”

The Benenden Health team’s participation was coordinated by York Cares, a partnership of the city’s leading employers committed to making York a better place through employee-volunteering.
