We’re absolutely delighted to share that several of our amazing student volunteers have been shortlisted for the University of York’s Student Community and Volunteering Awards 2025!

The ceremony took place on Thursday 8th of May at The Guildhall, and we were so proud to see some familiar Kyra faces being recognised for their hard work, compassion, and commitment to supporting women in York.

Recognising Outstanding Volunteers

A huge congratulations to:

  • Frankie, who volunteers on our ROSE project supporting young women aged 18–25
  • Jess, who completed her placement at Kyra and now supports both Kyra Voices (our choir) and the Craft group
  • The incredible video team: Aaliyah, Abigail, Amia, Emma, and Doris, who created a thoughtful and powerful film project about Kyra

These brilliant students have brought creativity, energy, and empathy to everything they’ve done—and it hasn’t gone unnoticed.

From leading craft sessions to supporting music groups, facilitating peer support, or helping amplify Kyra’s work through digital storytelling, they’ve shown what meaningful volunteering really looks like.

Why Student Volunteers Matter

This awards evening isn’t just about recognising individual achievements—it’s a reminder of the huge role that student volunteers play in keeping organisations like Kyra thriving.

To Frankie, Jess, Aaliyah, Abigail, Amia, Emma and Doris—thank you so much. We’re incredibly lucky to have you on our team.
