Understanding, Support, and Space: Kyra’s Neurodiversity Group
At Kyra, we believe that women deserve spaces where they don’t have to mask, over-explain, or feel like they’re the odd one out. That’s what our Neurodiversity Group aims to provide—a supportive, welcoming environment where neurodivergent women can feel understood.
Run every other Monday afternoon (12:30–2:30pm) and led by our fabulous Sherrie, the group combines shared meals, expert input from Manar at Living Autism, and time for informal connection or reflection.
It’s open to women with either a medical or self-diagnosis of neurodivergence, and has quickly become a vital space for peer support, learning, and self-acceptance.
Why Groups Like This Matter
There’s a huge gap in support for neurodivergent women—especially when it comes to diagnosis and tailored help. As of 2023, over 187,000 people in England were waiting for an autism assessment, with delays often lasting years. These long waits can seriously affect mental health, especially for women navigating anxiety, depression, or OCD without proper support.
Women are also chronically underdiagnosed, with an estimated 75% of neurodivergent women in the UK remaining undiagnosed. Many have been mislabelled or overlooked altogether due to diagnostic criteria that were built around male presentations.
That’s why spaces like our Neurodiversity Group are so important. They offer understanding, community, and practical information in a non-judgemental environment. And sometimes, just being in a room where you feel recognised makes all the difference.

Our Neurodiversity group provides connection, guidance, and real-world support in a welcoming and inclusive space
What Else Is Available
Our Neurodiversity Group is currently full until 2026, but we’re doing everything we can to expand what we offer. We’re seeking additional funding to offer more one-to-one neurodiversity support.
In the meantime, we have a waiting list for our next Neurodiversity Course, which will begin in February 2026. To find out more, contact sherrie@kyra.org.uk.
