At Kyra, we know that support can come in all shapes and sizes—sometimes, it’s on four legs and covered in fur. Our much-loved support dogs Lucy and Enya have become familiar faces at Kyra, and they’ve played a quiet but powerful role in helping women feel more at ease.

Handled by the brilliant Susan, these two have popped into ROSE group sessions, where young women facing big challenges often find it easier to relax (and even open up) with a dog nearby. They’ve also been spotted at our International Women’s Day events, calmly padding around the room and offering cuddles to anyone in need.

And it’s not just something we’ve noticed—there’s research to back it up. Studies show that spending time with support animals can lower anxiety, reduce stress hormones, and boost mood. One study even found that just ten minutes with a therapy dog made people feel noticeably calmer.

For many women, Lucy and Enya bring exactly what’s needed in the moment: calm, comfort, and a break from the intensity of whatever’s going on. They don’t ask questions or offer advice—they’re just there. And sometimes, that’s the best kind of support.

We’re so grateful to Susan, Lucy, and Enya for everything they bring to Kyra. Whether it’s a full room or a quiet one-to-one moment, they help make our space that bit more warm and welcoming.
